Blandine, France:
I really enjoyed the variety of activities available to us from a historic, cultural, active, gastronomic, and interactive aspect. The itinerary was well suited to us, allowing 03 days to acclimatize, 03 days of active tourism and 05 days in the Sacred Valley including visits to some of the surrounding local communities. On our visits to the communities we were immersed in the day to day aspects of their lives and many of their native traditions. We were looking for a cultural aspect to our itinerary and something out of the ordinary, we are happy to have found that and as a result had a more profound connection to this country!

Amy, United States:
Our 02 days spent immersed in the Amaru community was an experience enjoyed by our whole family. After having visited many touristic locations it was humbling to be able to sit down and interact with the natives, away from the saturated touristic market. It was like discovering the “real” Peru, that up to this point we had not seen. The night we spent with our local family was an incredible moment where we exchanged stories and shared special moments. We felt comfortable as if at home, and not having experienced these two days with such a welcoming family would have left our trip incomplete!

Rebecca, Spain:
We have thoroughly enjoyed our trip, in particular the personalized attention we received from both the organizers and the local communities we visited, which treated us as part of their own extended family. Every detail of our itinerary was arranged, but in a way that it was flexible with plenty of free time. Travelling in a small private group has enabled us to have a more intimate experience with the local communities we visited, but also have more time to discover this country and its enchanting locations. Our visit to the Pacchanta community near the Ausangate glacier, with Eusebio’s familia, was my most memorable moment of our entire trip. We spent 02 days in a completely isolated and magical location.

Our friends from the Amaru community and their perspective upon tourism:
In the beginning we saw tourism as a solution to our economic difficulties, but when we began to receive our first visitors the most interesting aspect for us, was the experiences we had with them directly. We are constantly learning new things about our visitors from foreign lands, and in return we are able to show them our methods, techniques and day to day lives. We are also happy that our children are able to speak with our visitors who have interesting professions and so they too learn about the world. Learning about other cultures and ways of living interests us, and we feel that we are learning and growing through these experiences. We also feel that we have become more confident in speaking with others in a public setting, and how to present ourselves to those outside of our community. We feel that our visitors are sincerely interested in how we live, our work, our weaving techniques, our culture and of course our food.

Eusebio from Pacchanta community:
We began working with tourists 15 years ago, but they visit our community very little, once or twice a year but when we do have tourists in our community we are very happy and grateful and do all we can to make them feel welcomed and comfortable. I enjoy showing them how I labor the land, look after my alpacas and our traditional handmade weavings. At these altitudes there is very little work, we mainly cultivate the land and look after our alpacas in order to sustain our families. We do however want our children to be educated, in order for them to work in the field that they want, and that is why we see our work as a necessity.
